I am currently using Firoefox 42. I have a lot problems using it. The firefox browser keeps turining Black. And I cannot see a word on the browser. It just blacking out. The screen just goes BLACK! I have to close the pin on the Windows 8.1 tabs to close it. And relaunch the firefox browser again. This is the issues that Firefox need to fix.

Is it the web page content area that goes blank, or everything below the title bar?

Does this happen after running Firefox for a while? Sometimes a blacked content area can indicate extremely high memory usage, but you would notice Firefox starting to get sluggish first. You can confirm using the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc). It contains memory usage columns either on the Processes tab or the Details tab, and there's also a Resource Monitor you can launch to see how much memory applications are using.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that helps.
