I've noticed recently that when Windows changes themes (for example, if you join a remote support session and Windows changes to the "Basic" theme) the window control buttons go missing in Firefox. I'm on Windows 7 pro 64-bit and running FF 46.0.1. The remote session I joined today was with Go To Assist, which we have been using for years. This issue with the buttons disappearing in FF only is somewhat recent (within the last few weeks).

I did some searching and found the solution "don't change the windows theme" but I don't have a choice when I join a remote session.

Separate Issue; Your System Details shows;

Installed Plug-ins

Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 15.8.20082 Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 15.6.30033
Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Separate Security Issue: Update your Adobe Reader Version 2015.016.20039 Note: Other Software is offered in the download.

FredMcD, thanks. I've deactivated the older PDF plug-in. I read the Adobe link and don't see any comprehensible way to uninstall it. I'm also not able to use the Create PDF extension (although I can print as a PDF, so it's not a huge deal). I also don't understand the instructions for enabling the Create PDF extension that Acrobat DC installs.

Type about:plugins<enter> in the address bar. Now search for the plugin.

Example; Adobe Acrobat File: nppdf32.dll,nppdf32.dll Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\browser\nppdf32.dll,C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AIR\nppdf32.dll Version: 11.0.9.29 State: Enabled Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 11.0.9

This will show you the path to that program. Copy the Path Only. Also, note the name of the file, and remember it. Now Close Firefox. Open your file browser and paste the path in the address bar. Find the file, and delete it. Now you can restart Firefox. Warning ! Remember to delete the right program.

To be safe, remove all of them. Then install the current.

As to the theme problem, It could be the work of one of your add-ons. Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac=<Command>)<Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.

If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is detective.
