Latest upgrade
I upgraded my firefox today to 101 I think and now I cannot search or go to any website. I tried to restore to a previous version and it said none are available. The only way I can use firefox to go on the web is if I go into troubleshooting mode. How can I fix this?

Exactly the same issue. It will stay blank even with fresh install. Troubleshooting mode doesn't help either. Settings menu is completely dead too. Even after closing the browser, it will stay in memory and many times process refuses to terminate unless PC is restarted.
Almost lost all extensions and bookmarks.
Reverting to version 100 and editing the compatibility.ini solves the issue.

You can vote so it can be noticed faster. This is critical and hopefully Mozilla will realize it needs fix ASAP. Info for developers: The bug first occurred in 101 Beta 6 Good news: Problem is fixed already on latest nightly version 07.06, hopefully they will push update to stable sooner.

Same for me and now almost a week without ability to get passwords for important things! Desperate! I can not get it to open in safe-mode or any mode. Always crashes and wants to send a crash report. Nothing else. How does one revert and not loose all bookmarks, tabs, settings, etc.?! Can you please explain what you mean about editing the compatibility.ini - this means zero to me! How long does something like this usually take?!
If you decide to install an older version, this article may help.

Firefox 101.0.1 fixes this issue
"https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/101.0.1/releasenotes/" DOES NOT FIX IT FOR ME!
It should if you was experiencing same problem. You might have other problem - messed up profile compatibility.ini. Edit the version inside to be matching with the Firefox version installed on your system.

Exact same problem and happened EXACTLY when the ver. 101 automatically updated! Another version of 101 I downloaded manually and installed, but the program does not start up. It was working just fine before the update I wish I never ever let be installed automatically!

a suggestion such as yours is useless unless you explain HOW to 'edit the version inside to match the Firefox version installed'. I don't even know what that means. Do interior files or folders have version numbers - and even if they did, I'd not know how to 'edit' one.
