Firefox 4.0 is not working properly (Alienware laptop running Windows 7) - how do I go back to 3.6
I just downloaded and installed Firefox 4.o and it is not working properly. I am running Windows 7 SP1 on a 64-bit Alienware laptop i7 cpu, 1.2Ghz, 8GB RAM.
Black Boxes cover the text when the mouse moves over it; some webpages appear completely black; others flash between Black and normal. I can't see tabs when I hover over them (they appear black). The scroll bar on the left does not work. It is very hard to type this as everytime I hit a keystroke the textblock goes black. It is also very hard to move down the screen.
The problems appear to be exactly the same as those when I downloaded Minefield.
Can I restore to 3.6?

thank you!
Mother of God: what are you knuckleheads doing with FF4? It breaks professionally built sites. Go back to 3.whatever. And pave the cow paths before you decide to upgrade and think you know more than the rest of us schlubs.
I have the same problem, fixed it by disabling hardware acceleration in options - advanced - general.
Still having other issues with things not working and displaying correctly though.
just noticed it didnt fix the scroll bar either.
enabling the menubar firefox - options - menubar fixes the scrolling issue.
only issue i have left atm is menus not appearing correctly during and after mouse rollover.

rcrm16, thank you for posting the link to reinstall FF 3.6. I am back to 3.6 and hope never to see 4.0 again.
I have been wrestling with 4.0 for almost a week, and it is awful! And the last thing I need taking up space on my aged computer is a Yahoo Toolbar. Good riddance to that. If 4.0 is soon going to be the only version available, I might very well be looking for another browser.
In compatability of Firefox 4 and Firefox 5 with Alienware computers is because of Stardock MyColors. If you run Stardock MyColors and switch back to the Windows 7 theme, the problem disappears.

Confirmed to work after disabling MyColors Stardock. If you would like to continue using the alienware themes, simply add firefox to the list of exceptions in Stardock.
now that the black boxes have ceased to exist, does anybody know why firefox reformats all my pages? for instance, facebook is not blue in firefox, rather ghost white.. Looks fine in Safari and Chrome. Started firefox in safe mode to no avail. Anybody have any other suggestions?
