Will Firefox 13 be able to import passwords, bookmarks, etc. from Firefox 13 Beta?
Hello,
I'm trying to switch from Chrome to Firefox and had a quick question. I was thinking of using Firefox 13 beta, but was wondering if I switch to the final version when it comes out, will Firefox remember my passwords, bookmarks, etc.?

glad you like the improvements in speed & functionality of the current firefox. when switching from the beta to the release version you don't have to uninstall the beta version at all. just download firefox 13 from getfirefox.com (it's scheduled to be released on june 5th) & install it. it will replace the beta version of the program automatically & keep all your modifications...

yes, all your personal data/configuration is kept in your user profile - you can just download the final firefox 13 version once it is released & install it over your current beta installation, it will access the same profile and all your data will remain - you won't even need to import it.
Wow, thanks for the quick reply. I'm loving the improvements to FF since I last remember using it (a very long time ago).
Quick follow up. By "install over", do you mean that to keep my information I should first install the final version and then uninstall the beta, or the other way around?

Make sure NOT to remove personal data if you uninstall any Firefox version because in that case all existing Firefox profile folders will be removed and you lose all personal data unless you have a backup.
They only way to switch the update channel (e.g. from beta to release) is to install the full Firefox version.
As posted above, Firefox should find and use the current default profile, so you won't lose your personal profile data.
Has anyone noticed that Firefox 13 makes scrolling looks like it's going in slow motion.
hello denny, with the update to firefox 13 smooth scrolling was activated per default - if you don't like it you can still disable the feature in firefox/tools > options > advanced > general.
Which setting do I use The General or Advance. Which one do I go for and how do I do it. I'm kinda new and don't want to lose anything just in case I've done something wrong. I just want to get this straight I go to the Tools setting on top of my page Then I go to options I know a box comes up showing the general and advance, plus all the other stuff you do to set up something. It's after that I get lost.
All I want is the scrolling to go back the way it was. Thanks.
hello, first it's in the advanced tab & then the general subsection (see the screenshot attached for reference) - don't worry, if follow that you won't break anything ;-)
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > General: Browsing: "Use smooth scrolling"
Thanks! It worked now it's going faster.
