Hi guys I have downloaded Mike Kaply's CCK2 wizard and have created a working extension (.inf) file. This sets and locks the following: home page, proxy settings, addon support amongst other things. Now, my biggest problem is how to send out the .inf file to all machines running firefox, but only have the extension affect student profile. For example, in one of our ICT rooms, teachers and students use the machines, i don't want teachers to have as many lockdown systems in place as the students. (On a side note, if anyone can provide a good explanation, i can easily create another extension and switch the solution o only affect teachers hopefully) Many thanks in advance, Lewis

Easiest would be to have two Firefox installations in different Firefox program folders and have the students use on with a mozilla.cfg file and the teachers the other. Otherwise you would have to use JavaScript code to exclude the teacher's profile folder. Remember that the mozilla.cfg is run as a JavaScript file and thus can contain JavaScript and isn't interpreted like the prefs.js and use.js files that can only have user_pref() lines.

You can either check the name of the Firefox profile folder or the Windows account via the username environment variable (getenv("USERNAME")).

So create an autoconfig file with the CCK2 rather than using the .inf extension file i already have? And then unzip this into the firefox folder correct? This could then be installed alongside a fresh firefox install, but using ranger i can set one to show for teachers and one for students?
