For the past few days have been unable to load anything within the Firefox browser. No error messages, just simply says connecting on the page tab. Able to load on other browsers but I greatly prefer Firefox.

Have tried restarting browser, restarting computer, disabled plug-ins, started browser in safe mode, uninstalled and re-installed, reset Firefox, installed any windows updates required, done full computer scans, virus scans.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

See:

You can check if you can start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift/Options key.

Thank you! worked like a charm, somehow something called Norton Smart Firewall had been enabled and was causing the problems.
