I'm running windows 7 with no antivirus other than windows defender built in to windows. On occasion I'll download AVG free to double check for viruses and come up with nothing so then I'll delete it. Always felt they caused more issues than they fixed.

Anyway, Thunderbird seems to be crashing a lot lately and it could be for different reasons each time. Almost always now when I send a message with a link or attachment it crashes. Sometimes just receiving a new email it crashes. Other times I won't do anything but have it running in the background and it will crash. It's getting extremely frustrating. I have two computers with Thunderbird and the other computer doesn't have any of these issues. Please help!

Maybe.... Tools|Options|Advanced|General and disable hardware acceleration.

I didn't see hardware acceleration under this directory.

Update to V38 and you will see it. It has been a problem so long there is now a user interface to turn it off.

Actually so far the update itself appears to have fixed the problem. I'll see how long it lasts. Kinda funny because I checked for updates not that long ago. I figured a simple update should fix it.
