Firefox crashes
Hi, FF crashes at start-up This is the latest crash report id: Crash ID: bp-528cd8bf-685f-4f7c-9113-2d6df2151002
I've been using this PC and FF since a more than 5 years. I leave the PC on overnight. This morning FF started crashing. Actions I took 1) restart PC 2) uninstall FF and install newest version => FF doesn't even start anymore 3) cleared winsock, ip4 and ip6 Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log and rebooted 4) installed Google Chrome - it doesn't crash
More information - PC = WIN 7 x64 - IE crashes too, but not at startup - previous version of FF also didn't crash at start up - Norton Internet Security 22.5.2.15
Many thanks for quick help

hi, looking at this report, it looks like it may be caused by external software on the computer. please go into your systems control panel and remove any software labled "Freecorder" or similar or by the publisher "Applian Technologies" or any other toolbars.

Hi, I found Freecorder 5 and Freecorder toolbar in my control panel. What is strange is 1) I certainly haven't installed that yesterday, but FF only started crashing this morning 2) I cannot uninstall either. If I click uninstall, nothing happens. Can you tell me how to unstall both programs? Thanks, Anne-Mie
Hi, Some more information - Freecorder has been installed on my PC 1/11/2011 - Freecorder toolbar on 2/4/2013
Yet FF only started to crash yesterday without a new update.
I don't need them and will happily remove them, if I can. But is it the correct solution?
Thanks, Anne-Mie
Thanks,
Hi,
I finally installed the REVO uninstaller, installed both programs and yes FF works again. Thanks for the solution. Anne-Mie
i think it's a three-way interference by firefox, freecorder and norton introduced by a recent norton signature update. but if you don't use freecorder much then removing it is certainly the best way forward...
