why won't my colors stay as True Color(32 bit) after setting it?

When I first open Firefox, the pictures are blurred, I go into Control Panel, choose Display and select Change Colors. It is set on 256 colors. I select True Color(32 Bit) and every thing is beautiful. When I close my computer, it reverts back to 256 colors. How can I make it stay on the True Color selection?

One possible explanation is using "Compatibility" settings in your Firefox shortcut. Firefox is fully compatible with Windows 7, so it's generally not a good idea to use any of those settings.

To double-check, you can access the Properties dialog for the shortcut. Either:

  • right-click a desktop shortcut
  • right-click a pinned taskbar icon, then right-click Mozilla Firefox

In the Properties dialog, click the Compatibility tab and make sure nothing is set/selected on this tab. (Screen shot attached.)
