I have Firefox 55.0.3 (64 bit). When trying to install an add-on it downloads but gets stuck on verification. This happens on all add-ons.
Since upgrading to the latest version I am trying to find replacements for the newly disabled add-ons. I first tried this on Friday the 8th. The same problem has been happening all weekend including today and I imagine since I installed this version. The exact wording is downloading and verifying add-on.

Let us know how this turns out.
It could be the work of one of your add-ons. Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)
In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.
Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.
If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.
Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.

Is this all add-ons, some?
What are their names, web addresses?
Any add on from the Mozilla Add-ons Manager. For example; second from the bottom of the opening page is "Improve Videos" I move the slide switch and it simply remains in a state of verification the green diagonal lines just keep flowing to the right and it never loads. For another example I can go to the Featured Extensions page and choose the first one Wikipedia Peak. I allow the add-on to download and verify and there it gets stuck. I have even disabled (temporarily) my security software) with no change. I admit this is a strange one. Anyway, it's getting late here and I'm going to follow up with this tomorrow. Thank you in advance for trying to help.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
Thanks Fred. This will do as a workaround but what can I expect in the future running in full mode? Is this something like the tab issue for this version of the browser? If there are any ideas on how to actually fix this I would be very interested. Thank you again Fred, Ron

Thank you Fred for all of your help. It turned out to be ieTab. Now to play it safe I'm only enabling the ones I use the most. It's still quite a few but everything is working now. Sincerely, Ron Salma
ps. All of my tabs are now coming back as I left them after a restart. :)
