I'm getting emails every day with people complaining that my site data isn't verified - I'm being reported to blacklists and Google and Bing. Firefox is generating a message saying my "site cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified" and that "they should report this broken site".

What???? There is nothing wrong with my site - it works perfect in every other browser out there.

Why is FF attempting to add HTTPS to all my urls? I know I can resolve this on my browser installation - but how does it get fixed so my visitors who use FF can get to my site?

Thank you for your help! Rob

What is your website?

This can happen if visitors have visited one or more web pages on this domain via a secure HTTPS connection.

That server may be sending a Strict-Transport-Security header that a secure connection is preferred.

To prevent this it might help if browser.urlbar.autoFill is disabled or the protocol is visible (browser.urlbar.trimURLs).

See "Prevent Firefox from automatically completing URLs":

Hey Tyler, My site is:

http://technologysolutionslive.com

This site used to be hosted on GD but now is 1and1. When on GD I may have had a certificate - but I definitely don't have one on the new host.

And I appreciate your answer Cor-el - and I know that's a fix for MY browser - but I only care about my visitors. And most, unfortunately, won't come back to my site because the wording in the error message makes it seem like my site is suspect.

This is not at all cool - now I'm getting pinged by Google for people saying my site has malware!

Firefox doesn't change HTTP to HTTPS automatically, but there is an add-on which can do that if the user isn't using the add-on correctly.

I wonder if that is where your viewers complaints lie?

Hey Edmeister,

I don't have any add-ons and when I try to go to my site - and I type "technologysolutionslive.com" - no www or http - it automatically fills in the url and starts with HTTPS:// and I get this error - which, when displaying the url of my site doesn't even mention the http or https…. ___________________________________________________ Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to www.technologysolutionslive.com. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long) The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site.

I mean - that's just wrong - saying my site is broken! It's bizare that this ONLY happens in FF not Chrome. I've deleted my cookies, did a fresh install of FF on a different system - I have no clue why it's doing this…maybe one clue - I think I stated this site had been hosted on another company before, then I moved it. I do not, now, have an ssl certificate, but I may have had on the other site - I don't remember. But even if I did, I'm on a new server now so it's pretty baffling.

And costing me in visitors, sem, seo, and just waiting for Google to pull the plug on me after they get so many complaints about how my site "isn't authentic" and "broken".
