My computer at work is going bonkers. Many websites cause Windows 7 to freeze completely, the mouse won't move, ctrl-alt-delete does nothing, I have to turn it off using the physical power button.

Some details, this isn't a firefox problem. It happens with Firefox, Chrome, and IE. It seems that the websites that cause it to crash have a lot of multimedia going on. SBNation and CNN both reliably cause crashes. Weirdly, Gawker websites haven't given me a problem yet. So far I've defragged the computer, run virus scans, disabled extraneous instances of flash, updated flash java and windows, and updated (then deleted and reinstalled each browser). In Firefox I've tried running it in safe mode, disabling add ons, turning off hardware acceleration, and using ad-blocker.

Due to the fact that this happens on multiple browsers and on multiple reputable sites, it really seems to me that this is some sort of Windows 7 issue. I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I'm getting desperate because it's limiting my ability to do work.

Oh, and the problem doesn't happen when I run windows in safe mode.
