This morning on Care2.com I was able to spell check a group post by right clicking in the text. After Firefox updated to 24.0 that option is no longer available. Where is it hiding?

Hi Sue, I added the second button to my page: http://dev.jeffersonscher.com/bookmarklets.html. The description might not be clear enough, let me know what you think.

Easiest is to create a new bookmark by right-clicking the Bookmarks Toolbar and choose : New Bookmark.

You can enter a name for the bookmark like spell-check (f) for frame or use the same name as the bookmarklet from Jscher with an ' (f)' appended and paste the JavaScript code in the location field.

You can also paste this code in the location bar and press the enter key.

data:text/html;base64,PGEgaHJlZj0iamF2YXNjcmlwdDp2b2lkKGRvY3VtZW50LmFjdGl2ZUVsZW1lbnQuY29udGVudERvY3VtZW50LnF1ZXJ5U2VsZWN0b3IoJypbc3BlbGxjaGVja10nKS5zZXRBdHRyaWJ1dGUoJ3NwZWxsY2hlY2snLCd0cnVlJykpOyI+c3BlbGwgKGYpPC9hPg==

This will write a <a> tag in the current tab that you can right-click to create a bookmark.
You can hover the link to see the bookmarklet JavaScript code.

jscher2000, thank you so much for making the SpellYes2 button available for download. I have had someone who knows very little about computers test out the instructions for installing the bookmarklet and she reports it was very easy to do and works like a charm.

cor-el, thank you for the instructions on creating a new bookmarklet. I personally found that very easy to do, but was not sure the people with little computer experience would be able to handle doing that.

Consider yourselves hugged repeatedly by all the Firefox 24.0 users on the site who will be using the bookmarklet. I'm also going to post the first bookmarklet too as it will be useful on other sites that have the different coding.

Sorry for the delay in responding, I was hit by a virus, me, not the computer.

Hi gyus. Any way to automate this process via Greasemonkey or Stylish or any other plugin?

javascript:void(document.activeElement.contentDocument.querySelector('*[spellcheck]').setAttribute('spellcheck','true'));

Hi MightyMoe, you would need to use Greasemonkey, since spellcheck is an attribute not a style rule.

When I right click on a misspelled word, I see many languages, some that I installed. When I go to preferences content select language, I see one (US English). I want to trim the dictionary list, and select the default. Since I installed French last, it became the default, but I want US English. I have the latest Mozilla Firefox 26.0 on Ubuntu. Please fix it.

Hi DGPickett, just to clarify, the language setting in the Content tab in the Preferences dialog relates to what language preferences Firefox sends to web servers. I wouldn't try to use that setting for any other purpose or you may get strange results during browsing.

Please start a new question about the dictionaries, because in this thread, the original poster's question has already been answered and marked solved.

Done! Sad that it just goes unfixed, release after release! I am using Chrome a lot more now. They have a web page for every imaginable set of controls!
