Upgraded to Firefox 10. Bookmarks are gone. How do I find them?
The system autoupdated Firefox to version 10 (now: 10.0.2). All of my bookmarks (several hundred) are gone. Instructions to find the file (in Library) don't reveal any bookmark file as described. I'm in a world of hurt. How do I recover these bookmarks? And what's the problem that caused this result? OS is current: Apple 10.7.3.
Chosen solution
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
The only problem was missing bookmarks (no restarting, locking up, etc.). When I tried the solution under problem limited to bookmarks, the backed up bookmarks were the current (empty) version. But in restoring, earlier backups were revealed, and the most recent of these earlier backups worked. I'm still at a loss to understand where bookmarks are stored (the backup today went to a different file, but "Restore Bookmarks" found it and the earlier versions which I was previously unable to locate.
Bottom line, this advice led to a solution (Thank you!), but the cause, and the reason that the actual fix ( different from that recommended) worked remain obscure.
Advice on how to avoid this problem in the future? Again, thanks!
