I have Windows XP, SP 3. Firefox starts slow, runs slow, and frequently hangs. I see script error messages, referencing Flash Player or Shockwave player, throughout each session. I am supposedly connected via high speed internet, 100 mbps, supplied by Bright House cable. I have added Adblock Plus to both my Firefox, and my IE 8, the latest version that I can, but seldom use. I use a 'my msn' home page. I just wonder if I would get better performance with an earlier version of Firefox.

According to the system requirements information, that should work, since the minimum is XP SP2.

You could try lowering the number of connections in network.http.max-connections. The default is now 256, but I found that 128 works better.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem
