the AOL web version keeps urging me to install "Firefox for AOL" on my Linux laptop. What is that, and do I want to do so (will it impact non-AOL usage)?
recurring popup on AOL web page. Says Firefox for AOL is optimized to run better. I don't know if this is a legitimate application (I have been burned by illegitimate "update Firefox" sites that installed malware and spyware and adware on my browser) and I don't know if Firefox for AOL might actually slow down my Mozilla experience on sites other than AOL's web based application.
Sorry to ask this through a "desktop" question portal, but I saw no area to ask about Firefox applications on laptops (only "desktop" or "mobile-Android". Information/FAQs there make no reference to "Firefox for AOL." I DO NOT have the desktop version of AOL on my laptiop.

Hello,
I wouldn't trust any Firefox "update" from a non-Mozilla website. Sometimes, unofficial builds contain adware or malware. If you want to use Firefox for AOL do so at your own risk.
