Is it possible to disable the add-on extension feature of Mozilla Firefox?
I have found that add-on's are being added to my browser without my permission. It may be happening when my children are on the computer. All I can figure is they are clicking on something on a site and it is adding the extension to my browser. I would like to disable the ability to add add-ons or extensions, thus preventing them from being added without my knowledge.
Is that possible?

Hello!
Yes you can first remove all addons and install this 1 addon
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/disable-addons/
This will prevent any way of adding add-ons.

I'm not sure if this extension works properly. It blocks opening about:addons via the location bar I can easily open about:addons via a link on the about:about page and via the chrome URL.
- chrome://mozapps/content/extensions/extensions.xul
The extension also prevents accessing the plugins tab in about:addons, so you can't disable or otherwise manage (check for updates) plugins easily or set them the "Ask to Activate"

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues.
You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Talk to your kids and explain what they are doing. And to talk to you before filling out forms or asking for programs, games, ect.
It’s very sad, but many of the software down-loaders / installers will trick you
into installing not only their program, but other programs as well.
You have heard of the fine print in shady contracts, right? Well, some
installers you need to look at the itsy bitsy teeny weeny fine print.
You are thinking you are giving the installer permission to install the program
you want by using the recommended option. But if you use the
Manual Option Instead, you discover all kinds of stuff that
you do not even know what it is or what it does. From now on,
everyone needs to Use The Manual Option to put a stop to this.
