Why use Firefox inside Wine?

Just noticed I clicked on the wrong download link, which is why I needed to use Wine. I'll post later and give you an update.

So you were trying to run Win64 Firefox in Wine instead of using the 64-bit Linux version?

Please just install firefox from the software centre so it stays up to date with the rest of your system. Also please mark the issue solved :)

Firefox for Linux from www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ will stay up to date also as long as you allow updates and the Firefox folder has read/write permissions. Having it in home will make this easy. The Firefox packages provided by a Linux distro may vary on how fast it is updated. Also may vary on whether they provide only current Release or current ESR or both.

The popular distros all update their packages in reasonable time. I would consider package management one of the important reasons to use Linux. Unless the user wants to try nightly sticking with the distro packaged Firefox is optimal.

For example I use official nightly binaries from Mozilla but use the distro package for stable since it updates with all the other packages without me ever needing to open it.

As I said some distros for stable Firefox Release may only provide for current Release or current ESR.

Also in my doing support it has been rather common for people who come here or at forums.mozillazine.org looking for Firefox support to be using a old Firefox build from their distro. This was because they did not do package updates or were still using a older distro release that was no longer getting Firefox and other packages updates. The Linux Firefox from Mozilla would at least stay up to date by default.
