Nav toolbar becomes Yahoo! rather than Mozilla when searching-how do I get rid of this?

IF I type my search in the Mozilla homepage search field, the search defaults to Yahoo! (I have never used Yahoo!). I've tried to remove it by removing the Yahoo!URL for search engine, replacing it with Google. I have looked online for solutions but none have worked.

Thank you Matt_G. Removing the prefs.js file did the trick!

You should take a look at the Search bar - add, change and manage search engines on Firefox Knowledge Base article. There is a lot of useful information in there.

If that doesn't work you should look at the article Preferences not saved.
