boston.com images don't load. started 2 months ago. Any ideas?
About 2 months ago images from boston.com home page only stopped loading. This occurs only for this site. I have followed all of the suggestions on the help site (cleared cache, history, reset, etc) to no avail. The page displays correctly in IE and Chrome so it's not my system.
Has anybody had this problem (and hopefully found a solution)?

You can rename (or delete) the permissions.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all permissions.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

I checked the site, loaded okay for me. I saw the list of what you tried. Have you tried Start Firefox in Safe Mode?

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
- Press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the hidden Menu bar.
- Check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
- Check "Tools > Page Info > Media" for blocked images
- Select the first image link and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list.
- If an image in the list is grayed and "Block Images from..." has a check-mark then remove this check-mark to unblock images from this domain.
Make sure that you do not block (third-party) images, the permissions.default.image pref on the about:config page should be 1.
Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.
- Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"
Note that these settings affect background images.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I have tried all of them without success. I have checked all permissions, extensions, etc. The oddest thing is that this only affects boston.com and no other sites, including bostonglobe.com.
Boston.com loads all images properly in both Chrome and IE browswers, so I assume that the problem is in Firefox and not another security application. I use MS Security Essentials only and have checked for blocked sites and there are none.
Any other ideas?

Do you see the missing images in Tools > Page Info > Media?
I don't think so. It's hard to tell if I don't know the name of what's missing. I scrolled through the images and didn't see anything that looked like it went with the news stories that have missing images.
