Chosen solution

In current Firefox releases the "Bookmark This Page" menu entry in the Bookmarks menu changes to "Edit This Bookmark" once you have bookmarked the page and the star on the Navigation Toolbar is highlighted blue.

So do not get confused by the missing "Bookmark This Page" in the Bookmarks menu and seeing "Edit This Bookmark" instead if you try to bookmarks a page that is already bookmarked.

Hi Nate, as a workaround, you should be able to use one of the following methods to bookmark the current page even when the toolbar or menu bar is not displayed:

  • Ctrl+d
  • right-click the page > Bookmark This Page

I don't know whether your flavor of Firefox is customized in your distribution or you get it directly from Mozilla...

The standard version has a new combined star|menu button to create bookmarks and display the bookmarks menu. This is on the main toolbar (Navigation Toolbar) by default. Can you see anything like that? The older buttons were discontinued, so if you cannot find one of those, that's normal.
