I recently updated Firefox to v38.0.1 and now it crashes frequently. I have submitted several crash reports today already. I am using a Macbook Pro 2.5GHz i5 running OSX Yosemte v10.10.3. I have reviewed the support forum and the solution posted was related to 'Trusteer software'... I followed the directions to 'stop rapport' but I do not have an 'other' option in System Prefs and a search for 'Rapport' comes up with no results nor does a search for 'Trusteer' or 'other'. Please help me fix this... I've been really happy with Mozilla/Firefox for many years now, but this upgrade and the crashes that came with it could make me change my preferred browser.

Rapport has been known to cause issues. But let's start with this;

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

While in Safe Mode,

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it and select Submit.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

If you can't get Firefox to open, you will have to do this the hard way. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozillacrashreporter Open the file browser / explorer on your computer. Note: You may have to enable Show Hidden Folders / Files. Enter this in the address bar;

Windows: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted Win 7/Vista: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted Win XP/2000: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted

Mac OS: /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Crash Reports/submitted Linux: /home/<username>/.mozilla/firefox/Crash Reports/submitted

Copy the last 5-7 Recent File Names in the folder. Post the information in the reply box below.

Download the current full installer for Rapport. Then remove the program from your system. Reboot the computer. Do Not install Rapport for now.

If the "bp-" prefix is missing then click its line on the about:crashes page to submit the crash report and the crash report will get a "bp-" prefix (do not add it yourself).

Wow... that's incredibly painful... it takes forever to load each report and in most cases I'm not sure if it will even load. There is no 'submit' button, apparently just opening the report is the equivalent of submit.

The crash report you posted do not show any evidence that Trusteer is involved.

Did you try Firefox Safe Mode?

You can check if it helps if you start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift/Options key.

You can check for corrupted and duplicate fonts and other font issues:

One crash report shows;
