Why does the screen flash white periodically when I scroll through a message?

When I scroll through a message in Thunderbird, the screen will flash white. The only time I see this happen is in Thunderbird. It gets to be a nuisance.

Does the screen flash also when you start your Thunderbird in Safe mode?

Don't know why I didn't think of that. It didn't flash at all in safe mode, but the funny thing is, It hasn't started flashing again since I went back to regular mode. Michal Stanke said

It might help prevent a recurrence if you disable hardware acceleration in Tools/Options/Advanced/General.
