I can longer easily update Adobe Flash on my computer when using Mozilla. I cannot click on Always Activite; it is gray. I have downloaded Firefox set up 43.0.2 and flashplayer20_a_install but I cannot get either to run when I double-click on them. My computer uses Microsoft Vista operating system. I have not had a problem with Adobe Flash updates until this past month.

The Shockwave Flash plugin that shows in the System Detail list is an older Shockwave Flash 19.0 r0 version that likely is blocked because of security issues.

You can find the latest Flash player versions for Firefox on this page:

You are first saving the Flash installer for "Plugin-based browsers" to the desktop?

You can try to run the installer as administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator) to see if that works.

You can uninstall the current Flash player version and (re)install the latest Flash version.

See this about uninstalling Flash players:

Note that this will remove all installed Flash players.

It is putting it in my downloads file. Nothing happens when I click Run As Administrator. I am afraid of uninstalling all Adobe Flash because I believe it works on Chrome. I don't want to be without it in case I continue to be unsuccesful with run it on my computer. As I mentioned, I have only had this problem with updates on Mozilla in the past month or so.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that helps.

Chrome automatically installs the correct version of Flash, a special version named "Pepper" that is made for Chrome.

Firefox needs a different version of Flash aka NPAPI, which doesn't come with Firefox due to Flash being proprietary software and not "open-source" like Firefox.

So if you uninstall the NPAPI version of Flash, it won't affect Chrome, or IE for that matter as IE uses yet a different version of Flash - ActiveX.

And Firefox needs to be closed before Flash can be installed, per Adobe instructions for installing Flash.
