When I try to load hotmail in Firefox I get a message secure connection failed BUT there is no problem if I use Internet Explorer or Google Chrome.

Why do I suddenly have this problem and can I correct it easily as I am not a computer nerd.

Your help would be appreciated. Regards and thanks,

Anthony

yes, temporarily using IE for your mailing would be an option too! you could also try if it's possible to access your mail account in firefox through this link: https://outlook.live.com

sorry for the hassle :-/

hi, unfortunately MS has misconfigured a security feature (OCSP stapling) on their servers which got now cached in your local firefox installation.

in order to resolve that, please enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named security.ssl.enable_ocsp_stapling. double-click it and change its value to false - this will degrade a security feature in firefox, so please revisit it in a couple of days again after microsoft has fixed their stuff and turn it back on again then...

I don't want to degrade any security feature; largely because it scares me to alter things. And I might forget to restore it later. I am old! So I shall use Firefox for all other browsing for the next few days and Internet Explorer for Hotmail. Thank you so much for your help. I do appreciate it

Dear Philipp,

Please do not apologise for any hassle. The problem is not your fault. The problem is obviously at Microsoft and the old man at this end of the computer. Your suggestion to use the link https://outlook.live.com works perfectly and I also just discovered if I simply put in outlook.com that works perfectly and signs me in to my inbox. I am so grateful to you for your time and help. I just wish I had the skills to help others. Regards and thanks, Anthony
