Hi,

It's been a few days that I cannot access my outlook account on Firefox, although that works fine via Chrome. Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks a lot

Same issue for me. Simply going to outlook.com and signing in with my work email account always fails after it appears to attempt to load about a dozen times. Sometimes I just get the message: "We couldn't sign you in. Please try again." Sometimes I get "Error 500 Repeating redirects attempted" with the below details:

X-ClientId: 8D6D2137B7434A82A4F98A76E60FE368 X-Redir-Error ApRdfW4BDOPK5E3q2Ag|ArLym14B2aSg5E3q2Ag|ApRdfW4ByD2R5E3q2Ag|ArLym14BKnll5E3q2Ag|ApRdfW4Bf2hb5E3q2Ag|ArLym14BYf8p5E3q2Ag|ApRdfW4BrMcf5E3q2Ag|ArLym14Bwpr2403q2Ag|ApRdfW4BY5vt403q2Ag|ArLym14BsVjF403q2Ag|ApRdfW4Bsg-6403q2Ag|ArLym14BBf2N403q2Ag|ApRdfW4BTsWD403q2Ag|ArLym14By05Y403q2Ag|ApRdfW4BmkJM403q2Ag|ArLym14Be1Ii403q2Ag|ApRdfW4BmH4X403q2Ag|ArLym14B7Tvv4k3q2Ag|ApRdfW4BYKDl4k3q2Ag|ArLym14BBsa64k3q2Ag|ApRdfW4BUQiw4k3q2Ag X-FEServer SJ0PR13CA0235 Date:3/18/2021 8:39:14 PM

I have cleared my cache and cookies, started in Safe Mode, and performed a full refresh of Firefox with the same errors every time. Using Firefox 86.0.1, no VPN connected.

EDIT: Outlook.com works sometimes on Microsoft Edge browser. My mistake. Also, this is definitely not a solution, so I don't know why it's marked that way.

Hi, what happens when you try to load the site? Do you get an error message, blank screen, loading animation, etc.? Does the problem occur before or after login?

If you are using an old bookmark, try using the Inbox address:

https://outlook.live.com/mail/0/inbox

I have cleared all the data to no avail and have also deleted the app and reinstalled. I can get to the Outlook login, but eventually get this message:

I'm also unable to open outlook in Firefox. I'm able to login into the office portal but not outlook. I have deleted data and cache. I have re-installed Firefox three times and I keep getting the same error.

Hi jd4321, have you restricted cookies in any way in your Firefox? Try unblocking them as a test:

Websites say cookies are blocked - Unblock them

Also consider any extensions that may affect cookies.

None of that works. As of 1/21/21, I can not access Outlook at all!

Do you get error pages, blank pages, what exactly are you seeing on your Outlook?

Also, do you mean on the consumer site or the paid site?

To jscher2000: Thank you! You saved the day once again! I was not able to open my outlook.com email today with Firefox. Never had this trouble before, so I tried accessing my email with Safari using the bookmarked location of https://outlook.live.com/owa/ which has always opened my email with no problem on both browsers, until today.

My email opened just fine in Safari, which is when I discovered that Safari routes it to the web address that you provided above (https://outlook.live.com/mail/0/inbox). I don't know when Microsoft updated the web address but I am grateful to have found your post. I guess that Firefox does not automatically reroute web addresses if there is an update to the URL? Or is there a setting that I need to tweak to allow that to occur?

If the server sends a redirect, Firefox should follow it. If it's getting stuck or showing a blank page, please make sure the redirect block is turned off:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste access and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the accessibility.blockautorefresh preference has a value of true, double-click it to restore the default value of false

Thank you for the additional information jscher2000. I checked the setting in about:config as you suggested and the default value is correctly set to false, so FF should have rerouted me to the correct web address. When this issue first occurred I shut down FF and restarted my Mac just in case something was hanging and causing a glitch, but that made no difference. FF still would not open my email after rebooting.

I also tried accessing my email with my MacBook which has the same OS, Firefox browser, and bookmarks on it as my desktop Mac but I was unable to open my email with FF on that device too. If the about:config setting is set correctly on both devices, I wonder why FF was unable to reroute me to the proper web address?

jscher2000: I forgot to click the box for needs more information after posting my reply to you on 4-13-21 which confirmed that my settings in about:config for "accessibility.blockautorefresh" were set to a default value of false. If the setting is correct on both my computers, I wonder why FF was unable to reroute me to the proper web address? Is there anything else I should check that might have prevented FF from rerouting me to the proper URL? Thank you.

I don't know all the possible things that could go wrong or all the extensions that might interfere. Is this the only redirect that doesn't work?

more options

To jscher2000: Yes, so far that's it. I have never had this occur with any other website. I don't have any add-ons or extensions in Firefox so it must have been caused by something else. The tab for my email kept flashing repeatedly, about two times per second, as if it was cycling in a rapid-fire attempt to reach the correct URL but couldn't. I appreciate your help very much, and as long as there is no other setting in the preferences that I should check or adjust, I'm going to chalk it up to the inexplicable stuff that sometimes happens with computers.

Oh, the cycling makes me think of a problem sharing a cookie or local storage item across the two similar (but not identical) addresses and the third server used for logins.
