I scanned a page on my HP Photosmart 7525 and attached it to a Thunderbird e-mail and sent it. When I went to my sent file to view it the attachment was embedded in the e-mail (it also showed as an attachment) but it was at about 200% size. How can I get it to normal size. The recipient said it was normal size when they opened it in the e-mail. Help???

Windows displays images at 96DPI. you probably scanned is at 3200dpi or more. Simple maths says your image will appear huge without scaling.

On the toolbar > View > attachments inline.

Now you will not see the attachments unless you open them explicitly.

Windows displays images at 96DPI. you probably scanned is at 3200dpi or more. Simple maths says your image will appear huge without scaling.

Thank you Matt--that was exactly the problem. I scanned it at 300DPI and when I changed the setting to 100DPI it is the right size. And unclicking the "attachments inline" is a good thing to know. Thanks very much.

Keep in mind that 96dpi is fine for screen use but a minimum of 300 is required for printing and preferably 3 or 4 times that. Unfortunately there is no "one size fits all".
