Thanks, FredMcD: I am already aware of Web Extensions vs. previous Add-ons. My issue is in regards to Web Extensions only.

Type about:customizing<enter> in the address bar. In the new window, look for the icon. When you find it, hold down the left button on it, and move it to where you want it to be. You can move any of the icons you want from here, but; some icons are locked in place.

There is also a Restore Defaults button at the bottom middle.

Note: about:customizing is no longer present in Firefox 47+ releases.

• Press Alt or F10 to bring up the toolbar.
  Then View > Toolbars > Customize.
• Right-click on a blank spot in the toolbar and
  select Customize.

My point was that the Firefox data collection feature should be sensitive to this limit. I should not have to be forced to 'squish' the setup information Firefox wants to report to fit the limit.

I finally was able to get to the bottom of this issue, well as far as I can that is.

If the following configuration setting "dom.ipc.processCount.extension" is changed to any value > 1, then the extension icons will disappear and the extensions themselves will stop working. Resetting the value back to its default, 1, re-enables the extensions that were already installed and they begin working again.

I was able to reproduce this issue on 3 separate Windows systems running Firefox 57.
