Version 29.0.1 migrated bookmarks are missing prior description text

I updated to the new version of Firefox and all of my bookmarks came over OK, except that none of the Description fields have any information. I used this field to make notes so I would like to get this information into the new bookmarks file. Is there any way to do this?

I am using this on an iMac but also have the same problem with v.29 on a Windows 7 laptop. I am using Sync with these 2 computers and an Android smartphone.

Could you open your bookmarksbackups folder, and make a copy of those files in a safe place. Here's how to open that folder:

Use any of these to open the support page:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
  • Help menu > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table on the page, click the "Show in Finder" button (on Windows, the "Show Folder" button)

This should open your current settings folder in Finder (or Windows Explorer). Click into the bookmarkbackups folder. You should find several files with dates in their names. Copy these files to a safe location in case you need to restore one of them later.

Have you changed your version of Sync from the "old" version to the "new" version? I don't use Sync, but it would be useful to get a better idea of how Sync might be involved with this problem.
