I can connect to my work network but when I try to do anything I get "ssl_error_rx_unknown_record_type" . I am connected. If I connect to my network it works.

I am connected to my work network. The proxy is not on. I have reset the winsock. Flushed the DNS. Ran the microsoft tweaking tool. I have turned off my antivirus software. I have pretty much done everything I can think of and it will not work I keep getting this error.

Hello,

I found an older issue that is the same as yours and would like you to try the solution that was posted there

Is this the only website with the problem??

In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run

After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Any difference?

The website might be using a cipher suit that is no longer considered secure and safe and is blocked in current releases.

You can try this:

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar and use its search bar to locate this pref:

  • security.tls.insecure_fallback_hosts

You can double-click the line to modify the pref and add the domain to this pref. If there are already websites (domains) in this list then add a comma and the new domain (no spaces).
