When I open thunderbird, eventually when it actually feel like opening, I have access to nothing. I can click on any email or function and it just sits there doing what our politicians do.....stuff all. There is a blank rectangular box in the bottom RH corner that does nothing, but if I click on an email and then on the box, sometimes the email will open, sometimes not.

If I click on an email and then click on the thunderbird logo in my taskbar, it opens the email, but I have to re-open the thunderbird.

The blank box in the corner stays there even when I close thunderbird and makes using other programs difficult, the only way to be rid of it is to shut down the computer and then re-start. This works until I open Thunderbird again then the whole thing starts over..

Can this be fixed or is it a throw away?

What happens if you hold shift while you start Thunderbird?

A screen shot of this "nothing" would be helpful I think.
