I cannot manually configure new account details and the search cannot find my details in the database, how do I move forward?

The manual configuration button is not an option after the search test has been done.

Have you enabled pop or imap forwarding in the webmail account? Did you choose pop or imap? What are the server settings you are trying to use?

Incoming server name: ? port:  ? connection security: SSL/TLS or STARTTLS ? authentication method: normal password

Outgoing SMTP server name: ? port:  ? connection security: SSL/TLS or STARTTLS ? authentication method: normal password

Hi, thanks for this, I have tried this a number of times and it will still not locate the account details. I have checked and double checked the settings but still not working. Any further suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Andy

Sometimes I try to exactly duplicate the configuration for an e-mail account when setting up Thunderbird on a different machine. For instance, I try to configure my new laptop by copying every account parameter and detail that is visible to me under "account settings" on my desktop machine, where the account works fine. But Thunderbird is still not able to locate the server for the new e-mail account and communicate with it.

Sometimes it seems that Mozilla disapproves of the security arrangements on the new account and refuses to do business with the server even though the parameters are all correct. This is difficult because one such case involves my employer's e-mail server, and I don't really have the ability to dictate what the authentication protocols should be on this server. Older Thunderbird versions offered an option for the user to say "I understand the risks, connect me anyway" but it seems the more recent versions do not have this option.
