I have the same issue as the one mentioned in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1004390

I'm on 35.0.1 and have tried other issues to resolve this.

As you can see from the process explorer (attached image), there's the "real" Firefox process (the first one) that has a Window, but every time I click on a link from within Outlook, it causes a _new_ process that has no window and doesn't do anything (the second Firefox in the attached image).

Thoughts?

Hello jitterted,

I don't think I've seen anyone with that many Add-ons before.

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

SafeMode-Fx35

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

Thx, Curtis

You should see how many I have. Others have even more.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.

I am having the exact same problem. A few more details though. Once in a while, it actually works, but 99% of the time I get another process in Process Explorer that is about 25KB in memory usage, but has no indication at all on CPU usage. Also, If I right click and select Open Link, it opens normally in Firefox. This is starting to make me wonder if this is a Firefox Issue or an Outlook issue. I am not having issues with browser links. I have not tried to open any with another email program yet. I'll attach my Firefox troubleshooting info. Maybe if we compare them with the other folks having this problem, we can find a commonality.
