Why do changes to "dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled" in version 40.0.3 not saved?

I found the information to change "dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled" to false in a search via the internet. The fix worked for the session I was in. I then realized that maybe I needed to make the changes then close Firefox using File > Exit. The fix worked for a day. Now when I try to copy and paste from for example an open email (which I use as a scratch pad) while compiling news links for a friend, anything I try to paste from the email to Tumblr or to my Google Plus page when sharing a link doesn't paste. It does not matter whether I am using Control V or right click paste. This is quite frustrating. If this persists and it is not the fault of Google+ or Tumblr, then I will have to choose another browser software package. If it is in fact Mozilla Firefox then this is quite intrusive for this software to assume I am not to be allowed to copy and paste, links, text or hashtags wherever I choose.

If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:

Use keyboard shortcuts if the buttons on the web page or other methods aren't working.

  • Copy: Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Insert (Mac: Command + C)
  • Paste: Ctrl+V or Shift+Insert (Mac: Command + V)
  • Cut: Ctrl+X or Shift+Delete (Mac: Command + X)

Seems you did not read my full statement. I mentioned that the use of Control V (paste) and Right Mouse Click do not work.

I was going to test if for a couple days to see if what I did (explained below) was the bigger problem. But this is what I found.

I chose to do a Mozilla Firefox software refresh, and seems to have fixed whatever had become corrupted in Firefox's software.

If Ctrl+V isn't working then the alternative Shift+Insert might still work if there in something on the clipboard.
