How can I minimize Firefox with one click when I have several tabs open?

I used to be able to minimize Firefox with one click on the taskbar icon, even with several tabs open. Now it won't let me do that. Now when I hover my mouse over the FF icon, a pop-up shows all the tabs that are open and I must find another way to minimize Firefox. I'm missing something here.

I was right. I unchecked the box in options that says "Show tab previews in the Windows taskbar" and everything is working the way I want it now. Thanks again for your help. These things are usually easy to fix but hard to find sometimes.

If you click the current Firefox window icon, it will close. Also, you can hold down the <Shift> and right-click the icon.

I don't want to close anything. I want to minimize the screen. I know there are other ways to do that, but I've always been able to click on the taskbar icon to minimize the window. I'm wondering why I can't do that now. Something has changed. It may be solved by simply putting a check mark on something in the setting page. I just don't know. Now, when I click on the Firefox icon on the taskbar, it just pops up with images of all the tabs that are open with no option to minimize the window. Thanks for your reply.
