Hi, i have 10 years of e-mails and some of them contain the phrase "CT-3R". If i use the global search then Thunderbird does not find anything.

If i use the "Quick Filter" and try to search for the same string then it works.

Why does global search not work and when will it be fixed?

I think you will find the string is not indexed because it has the hyphen the tokenizer used breaks phrases on punctuation. so you will also not have any joy with searching for 1,000,000 as it will not be indexed as that it will be 1 and 000 that is indexed.

I think this enhancement bug applies https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=544580
