The exact message was: Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail: the return mail address was invalid. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again. A similar error occurred when I attempted to save a draft message.

I have not changed my email address nor my ISP. How do I get over this hump?

This hump may be your anti virus program... but lets have a look at your account setting like the error suggested first.

Right click the local folders in the folder pane on the right. Select settings. Now select the account in question. Is the email address in the dialog a valid email address with an @ in it? Does Thunderbird work in TB Safe mode (see Thunderbird Safe Mode)? Do you use anti-virus and firewall software? What is the version? Who is the email provider? Who is the internet provider?
