What should I do when I receive the following error message. Did as was instructed but didn't know how to resolve. The server does not support the selected authentication method. Please change the 'Authentication method' in the 'Account Settings | Server settings'.

Did not know which choice to select. "Authentication method" is currently set on "password encrypted". This has not changed, and the error message has just come up. Thank you

odd as it may appear the authentication methods are set by the mail provider. So if they change their requirements something that has worked for a decade will stop working.

Is your provider Google perhaps and you have not updated Thunderbird? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatic-conversion-google-mail-accounts-oauth20

If not who is your mail provider.
