I got an automatic Firefox 7 update at home. Now the internet does not work. It "hangs". I cannot access anything. Why?

I need help. I cannot use my home PC (laptop) anymore accessing internet using Firefox 7: no contact. Before updating everything was OK. I got a warning that some Java versions were not comatible with Firefox 7. Since Firefox 7 did not work, I updated Java but still the same. I have to change to Opera if you cannot help me, but I cannot find my Internet favorites. Where are they located?
