Firefox will not open after outside power failure. Cannot create new profile.
Rebooted normally after power failure. "Help" suggested creating a new profile but I cannot open the profile manager by running C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe -nothing happens.

Some files may have been corrupted.
- 1 Download Firefox Full Installer For All languages And Systemsv38.0.5 {web link}
- 2 Uninstall Firefox from your computer {web link}
DO NOT remove your profiles. - 3 After, reboot the computer. Then run a registry scanner / repair.
After, run the full installer.
Try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release in case some files got corrupted.
- Download the Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop

If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
- Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
- (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.
Thanks, I have saved a new Firefox installation link to my desktop. I uninstalled Firefox as instructed, and was not given an option to "remove my ... personal data" so I suspect I have the later version of Firefox.
I ran the correct search for "...program files..." however I find no "Firefox program folder" to delete. All I find is a folder named "Browser" and a document called AVG-Secure-Search.
Do I delete something here? Thanks again.
Very good.

Once everything looks okay, run the Firefox installer. If it finds your old
profile, great. If not, we will take care of that.
I followed your link; it produced a sketchy marketing ploy insisting I pay $30 or that offer would be rescinded in the next few minutes...(a countdown appeared threatening offer refusal and price doubled.) High pressure tactics at the onset is not very reassuring to me in any transaction, let alone ones on the net. I was hoping for help to fix this myself. Now I wonder if I just injected more problems into it.
In what location are the folders that you mentioned? Can you provide the full path just to be sure?
- (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that allows the Profile Manager to get started via firefox.exe -P.

I'm sorry. That link should have instructed you on how, not ask for payment. Please use this instead;
