I am using Thunderbird 52.2.1 and everything worked fine since 06-07-2017. From then on Thunderbird cannot log in and download my mails any more from an exchange-server I am using for business reasons. The connection to my private mail provider is still working and there are no problems at all. Does anybody the reason for the exchange-server contact failure and can tell me how to solve this problem?

I'd suggest you contact the provider who runs the Exchange server.
