Thunderbird 68.12 Not Creating Clickable Links On Certain Emails Except In Plaintext

I'm having a problem where emails from a certain sender have links that do not show up as clickable unless I toggle the view to plaintext. I receive many HTML emails from other senders with no problem clicking links.

It is not that it doesn't launch the browser, it doesn't make it a link at all while any other incoming HTML emails with links work fine, until I toggle the view to plaintext, then a clickable link appears.

I've attached the source of one such message, some names changed to protect the innocent. The sender claims these emails have clickable links for everyone else who receives them.

Is there something I can change on my end to have these become links without having to toggle it to plaintext? I looked through the about:config and didn't see anything that looked relevant but am open to suggestions.

Thanks.

Is the sender composing mail with a mobile mail app, even the W10 Mail app? Some of them produce non-clickable links when the link is entered directly as http://www.example.org, instead of embedding the link in text, like this.

^ No, I don't know/understand the entirety of how the sender is set up but there is some server side code generating emails through "sendmail" (Unix?) .

I need a solution on my end, so what can I change or add-on to T'Bird or is there nothing? It seems like some flaw in TB if there's nothing, failing to (parse?) and find the link unless viewed in plaintext??

Here is an example that, unlike the prior one, DOES work to generate links. One thing I notice is that there aren't ends of lines with "=" tacked on. Can anyone compare these two and determine why T'Bird might be able to make links from this one but not the former? Or more important, what I could change to make the former display the links?

You can try this add-on and see if it helps with such links:

I just tried this add-on, and it does not automatically parse and convert the links to clickable, and while it does allow me to select the text-URL that should've been linked, go into the popup menu and have me load it into a browser as a link, it is not a suitable solution because I get far too many of these emails to keep doing it that way when it takes longer than my current workaround which is to just have a button added to the menu bar that toggles the email to plaintext to click it. I mean I just tested both ways and the button I already have is faster. As far as that goes I wouldn't need the add-on because if I have to select the text URL anyway, I can drag that into a browser window to open it faster than going through a context menu from an add-on to do it.

Something about T'Bird is not deciphering URLs correctly in HTML while it does in plaintext. Is there anything I can do to make T'Bird just as aggressive at generating links in HTML view as in plaintext view of incoming messages?

I did restore a backup I'd made of T'Bird a few versions ago to be sure it wasn't some kind or corruption or settings change I made accidentally but I didn't find anything, still same behavior of not creating links on these incoming emails when viewed in the intended HTML view mode.

Is there a way to filter to view messages from certain senders (and only those) in plaintext? I had looked into that, saw other people asking about it too but nobody suggested or found a way to do it.

Is there something wrong with this convoluted way that these threads are set up too?

I can't even see my reply to sfhowes!

Guys! This devolution to something that doesn't work as well as text exchange did 30 years ago is... insane.

^ That is not a consolation for people who don't know this is happening, think posts are just getting lost.
