Hi Gang,

Have loved FF for years on my Macs. But for last few months FF will only quit normally maybe 20% of the time; the other 80% I must force-quit it. SOMETIMES it will quit, but I have to wait SOOOOO LONG that I can see the grass growing out my office window. Any ideas? I am using FF 3.6.2 running Mac OS 10.5.8 on hardware PowerMac G5 Dual Processors (which was the last of the PPC processors, before Intel chips came into use). I have plenty of RAM. This machine is running on a restoration from Time Machine, from when my MacBookPro laptop was stolen.

Are you using Clear Recent History to clear any data when you close Firefox?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Thx, Cor-el, but I found an old post and cleared up my problem. Go to Finder, start disk utility, click "repair permissions" for the hard drive. Now FF quits like a charm. Then your answer went to my Spam folder. But today I was reviewing it and found your post. Tanks again, and I hope my now posting the solution helps others.
