FIREFOX!!!!!!! This new FindBar is ugly and doesn't fit in with my brower!! Also, it shrinkens how much of my persona theme I can see at the bottom!! WHY OH WHY did you do this! I'd really appreciate a way to add an additional bar at the bottom to again see more of my theme!!!!!

I don't see a way to have the theme come through the new Find bar. There's also no easy way to add a new toolbar at the bottom. However, you can make the add-on bar taller to show more of the theme if you like.

To change the appearance of the Add-on Bar, you would create a custom style rule and apply it to Firefox using either a file in your settings folder, or an add-on. If you don't mind another add-on, that's the easier way.

So, first, what is the rule? You can add blank area by increasing the amount of space (known as padding) between the row of icons of the Add-on bar and the edge of the bar. If you want the content centered, you can add padding both above and below it. If you want the content along the bottom, you can add all the padding above it.

Rule #1:

#addon-bar {padding-top:10px !important; padding-bottom:10px !important;}

Rule #2:

#addon-bar {padding-top:20px !important;}

To apply the rule using the Stylish extension, step 1 is to install the Stylish extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/

Next, select and copy the rule you prefer from earlier in this post.

To set it up:

(1) Stylish will add an "S" icon either to the main Navigation Toolbar or to the Add-on bar. Click the Stylish "S" icon > Write new style > Blank style.

(2) Click the Insert button and choose "XUL namespace as default". Stylish will insert this on the first line:

@namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);

(3) On line 2, paste in the rule you copied before.

(4) Click the Preview button to apply the rule. Success?

If you want more tallness, increase the measurement from 10px to 12px or 20px to 22px, etc. Preview after the change to see how you like it.

(5) Before saving the rule, type a name in the top box, for example: Tall Add-on Bar

That's it. Unless there's a problem in Step 4.

Thank you!! No idea why firefox would even bother changing the findbar.

The Find bar changed to be within a specific tab where you used it rather than appearing as part of the frame of the window. Is that more logical? It's not always more convenient, but it does let you see more of the page on tabs where you aren't searching, which is better for some displays.

Oh gee, is there any way to fix that?? I like the find bar to be up on every single tab >.<

Hi RadicalDame, there are some add-ons for changing how the Find bar works. Maybe this one will make it "just right": FindBar Tweak.

Thank you!
