Is this message from Foxfire? With all the hacking going on, I need to be sure. thank-you for your help. A message comes up when browser is open: 1- it shows the Norton icon with check mark 2- reads: Firefox Protection Alert Some of the Norton protection features are not installed on Firefox. Install Norton to protect your device and your identity when you surf with Firefox. 3- three clickable places: 'remind me later' 'don't ask me again' 'Install Now' 4- I do have Norton on my system/pc already.

I have Norton Security installed. Yes it is from Norton as you probably have not installed the Password Manager and/or the Norton Toolbar.

Just click the Do Not Remind Me Again option if not going to install the above. If want the above click the appropriate boxes.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Can you check with Norton on whether those are normal messages for its software/add-on to be displaying?

Also, could you check the Add-ons page to see if these choices are listed in the usual place. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. Then on the right side, look for your Norton extension(s) and try the Options button or More link to access the details/settings. Does this page let you choose features you want enabled/disabled?

Taking a screenshot of that message might be helpful for getting help from Norton.

I have never seen that type of message in Firefox, but I don't use Norton - I use Comodo Antivirus 10, specifically because it doesn't 'force' install any silly Firefox add-ons that many time duplicate features that are built into Firefox. Add-ons that don't seem to get updated in a timely manner in many cases, which get disabled all too often due to lack of compatibility with a Firefox update. And it's not like Mozilla 'springs' updates on users without any notice. The update schedule is posted at least 6 months (or more) in advance.

I found one query on Norton that was the same as mine. It was not answered directly so I looked up 'Norton Identity Protection Features on their site. If this is what the message box is about ( and I think it is) it is wanting to monitor and protect 'everything' but of course one would have to sign up for it and give information...... I do appreciate your answers and help. Thank-you.
