I'm on a desktop PC with Windows 7. The fonts on many website pages I have been looking at for the last few days seem to fade out unevenly across the screen as I begin to scroll my mouse. Not all sites have this problem. If I click on a link the sight fonts come back into focus.

No. It is just that Firefox has problems with some graphic display card drivers, but didn't detect this and disable hardware acceleration by itself. In such a case you need to do this yourself.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Had no impact, other than freaking me out when the whole format of Firefox went by the wayside. I think I have everything back now. There's this one Java Platform plugin shaded in a light red. Should I disable this plugin?

Any other thoughts out there? I don't use or do anything weird from an application standpoint on my machine - I'm no techie!

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

If there is a problem with scrolling on web pages then try to disable smooth scrolling.

disabling the h/w accelerator worked! Thank you so much!

So, does this mean my monitor can't cope with my Asus 3.2Mz processor?
