How do I get rid of surf canyon in add ons when there is no "remove" option? I've disabled it but it still pops up on my desktop.

I get a surf canyon window popping up on my desktop. I checked in my control panel's program and features and it doesn't appear there. I checked in firefox, tools, add ons and it appears but it is disabled. There is no option to "remove" it as there are for other add ons. And, even though it shows as disabled, the window keeps popping up. How do I get rid of this?

According to a screen shot I saw online, when you are in the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, the one you are looking for is called Fast Search. It might be simplest to click the "Installed on" column heading to bring the most recent infections, I mean additions, to the top. Hopefully uninstalling here will remove it from Firefox and IE as well.

Thanks so much. I didn't find "Fast Search" listed but by looking at the date column for installations, as you suggested, I found something called "Search Manage Service" and lo and behold the publisher was Surf Canyon. I uninstalled it successfully. I you don't hear from me again, it means that it was gone when I re-booted my computer, which I'm going to do now.

You're to be commended. I see that you're a Top 10 Contributor. Thank you for being so "community" minded.
