Does folder retention policy keep emails on the (pop) server?

TB 24.0

I have my Server Settings set to delete emails as soon as they've been downloaded to my PC, due to my ISP continually sending warning emails that I've used 90% of the 50MB allotted for my mailbox.

However, in some of my folders I've set certain retention times. Does this override my Server Settings?

(I want Folder Retention Policies to apply only locally as I don't want to keep anything on the ISP's server -- a strategy which the ISP recommends.)

With a POP account, whatever you do locally outside of Inbox won't effect things on the server. Assuming you have the 'Leave messages on the server' option not checked in your server settings, messages shouldn't pile up on the server in the first place.

Thanks -- the 'Leave messages on server' isn't checked, so I assumed that nothing would be left on the server regardless of what the individual 'Retention Policy' is in each folder. I wanted to be sure. I haven't had any more notices from my ISP so I guess I'm all right.

I don't leave my PC on for large swathes of time, so as a safeguard I've set my Gmail account to access my ISP mail account so there's no chance of emails accumulating. Things would be so much sweeter if ISPs provided a decent amount of space on their servers.

Anyhow, thanks again for your help. It's appreciated.

Gmail has plenty of storage space, so you may consider to reverse that.
