I have 2 versions of thunderbird on my computer and I want to only use the most recent. How do I combine them?
We were using Thunderbird 24 but want to upgrade to Thunderbird 45. I was hoping I could download Tbird 45 and that it would overwrite Tbird 24 but that didn't happen, so now we have both versions on the computer. Our Tbird 24 is also missing part of the program apparently, as I don't have a toolbar or anything other than the basic email access. I wanted to include a screenshot of what we see but couldn't get it to work. Please help! Thank you, Jenny

Sounds like you installed Thunderbird 45 to a different directory than v24. Otherwise a newer version is supposed to overwrite an older one.
Do both, Thunderbird 45 and Thunderbird 24 use the same profile? To check, which profile is used: At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Folder > Open Folder.
If the same profile is used, simply uninstall v24. It's not recommended to use different versions with the same profile.
Thank you for your response! Unfortunately I don't have a menu button in Thunderbird, just the basic email screen. I'm wondering if I can delete both versions without losing any of my information and then just start from scratch with Thunderbird 45.
Both versions are in my download file...I haven't been able to find them in any other location.

Use Help (Alt-H) - Troubleshooting Information instead.

I don't know why you want to delete both versions. You can probably delete v24 though.
